Computer Science - an interdisciplinary field?

Mathematics is wonderful in that practical problems can be solved and mysteries of the universe brought to light, but human computation of these problems is impossibly slow when compared to a computer's capability. That capability must be understood, which is where the study of Physics enters the Computer Science field. The bane and saving of computers is their logic - a computer will always follow instructions precisely with the logical system it has been given to follow those instructions. When the mind is trained to understand what a computer does with a given instruction, communication has been achieved - the computer and programmer are speaking the same language.

Computer Science builds on Mathematics, Physics, linguistics, and logic, but its aims are not the same. A computer scientist works to make computers useful to humans.
