On Vacation...

Wednesday, July 18, 2001

Got back to work... or should I say reading... Took a brief look at the code for TPC-C, but both Aaron and I think we need Charlie to go over it with us once before we start doing too much.

Today we all spent our time rebuilding Quark with Free-BSD 4.3 ... Fun... fun... fun... The only major problem that we got into was with NIS where we neglected to add /bin/bash to the shells file so no-one's login would work local to quark. Finally got that straightened out. Once that was done everything else went rather smoothly.

Spent a good portion of today working with Abby and Hassan on getting all of quark's services back up and working. For the most part, all is going well and looks good. Finally got that chance to go over Charlie's TPC-C code with him. It helped a little, but I don't know yet where it didn't help, so we'll just have to start cranking out perl functions and see if they work.
