Vasil Iljoski was born in Krusevo in 1902. He finished his high
school in Kumanovo and got his degree in philosophy in Skopje. In 1928,
on the stage of the theater in Skopje was performed his comedy Lence
Kumanovce (Begalka), which is the first play written in Macedonian
language. In 1936, his other comedy, Nagazil covekot (Corbadji
Teodos), was also performed in Skopje. After the liberation of Macedonia from the Fascist ocupator, Iljoski has published the following literary works: the comedy Dva sprema eden and the plays Cest, Kuzman Kapidan, Sin i tatko, Dopirni tocki, and others, as well as the radio-drama for children Prvi na Mars. Iljoski is a famous cultural and educational worker. He is a member of the Macedonian Academy of the Arts and Sciences (MANU).
