Computer Science Majors Recognized For Excellence in Tennis

GREENWOOD, Indiana – Three of Earlham College’s Computer Science students were commended for their excellent performance on the Earlham Tennis team this past 2016-17 season.

Vitalii Stadnyk ’19 earned his third consecutive Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Men’s Tennis Most Valuable Player Award as the junior highlighted the Earlham College men’s tennis team’s contingent on the All-HCAC teams announced by the conference on Tuesday.

Stadnyk was one of four Quakers to be named First Team All-HCAC. Aleksandr Sergeev ’20 also garnered First Team All-HCAC honors.

Stadnyk finished 18-4 playing first singles and 18-9 playing first doubles. He lost just one HCAC singles match this season (to Landon Carrico of Hanover) and sits fourth in program history in career singles victories with 51 wins.

Sergeev played fourth singles and finished with over 15 singles wins.

Adam Schwartz ’18 was named to the HCAC All-Sportsmanship Team.

Earlham finished its 2016-17 season with an 18-7 overall record and 7-1 conference mark. The Quakers concluded their season with a runner-up finish in the HCAC Tournament.
