BAGHDAD — Hundreds of mourning Iraqis joined a mass funeral in Baghdad
yesterday for 68 civilians officials say were killed during
three nights of US and British bombing raids around the capital.
"All 68 are civilians and they all died in the savage bombardment," member
of parliament Sultan Ashawi said.
The simple coffins were strapped on taxi roofs and draped in Iraqi flags
in a procession which passed the headquarters of the United
Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in the centre of Baghdad.
Each bore a photograph and a few details of the victim, and several showed
women and children. (Mass funeral for bomb victims,
