From WildWiki

Course Objectives

We'll teach you the basics of climbing. This means explaining proper safety techniques(belaying, spotting, equipment care), discussing different types of climbing(namely bouldering, sport and trad), practicing climbing technique(such as foot placement and resting positions), and finally we'll teach you the lingo of the climbers(words and phrases such as "jug", "barndoor" or "smearing").

Course Requirements

There are five mandatory classes which all participants must attend. These classes are Tuesdays at 7 pm for two hours, and all five are the first five weeks of the semester. If you are unable to attend, you must contact your instructor prior to your absence. In these classes you will learn items listed above and one requirement is that you learn to belay--which means you must take, and pass, the belay test. Finally, after these five classes you are responsible for coming into the wall to practice climbing for a total of ten hours. The staff member working at the wall will log your hours.
