Spring Break Backpacking 2007
Course Overview
This course is a 5-6 day backpacking trip that will occur over Spring Break in either Big South Fork (KY/TN) or Smokey Mountains (NC). The class is open to anyone of interest and will teach the basics of backpacking while at the same time strengthening already-established backcountry skills. Students will have the opportunity to ask questions, give input, and be involved in the teaching process if they so desire. Most of all we will have an awesome spring break 2007, WooHoo!!!
Expectations
Students must attend every pre-trip meeting and the actual trip to receive full credit for the course. A student will not pass the class if he or she does not go on the trip. Students will be expected to demonstrate competence in basic backpacking skills, which include packing a backpack, reading a map, setting up tents, and operating camp stoves (yea whisper lights). Please note that students will not receive any type of refund if they are signed up for the class and then decide not to go on the trip (except under extenuating circumstances, e.g., for medical reasons).
Important Dates
- Gear Meeting at OEC, Wednesday March 14th, 7:30p.m.(the basement of bundy, separate entance facing the welness center and bundy parking lot),
- The trip! Departing either Friday night March 16 or Saturday morning March 17, returning Saturday March 24th
