Welcome to the Outdoor Trip Leader planning pages. These pages are designed as a training tool to help us plan and prepare for future trips, some real, some not. As the course progresses, additional pieces of the Wiki puzzle will be required. Find the link to your page below to get started. Your assignment is as follows:
1.) Create a name and password to allow you access to edit Wilderness Wiki. Email Tom the following items, in this order:
a.) username
b.) password
c.) full email address
d.) full name
2.) Create a "home page" for the course you are planning. This page should include:
a.) Title and summary of course, including activities, skill levels, locations etc..
b.) All trip dates and other time committments
c.) Expectations of the course, both of the leaders, participants and course itself
d.) Other creative things. Make this page fun. It can continue to be modified throughout the class as well.
3.) Create an equipment list, specific to your course. Again, add detail as appropriate for your course.
4.) Create a logistics page. This page will be a reference page for instructors, not students. Please include these things about your course/course area. Describe the answers as well as you can.
a.) Do you need permits?
b.) Do you need to make reservations for camping, either while traveling, or at your destination?
c.) Do you need to rent gear/ hire an outfitter?
d.) What maps or topos do you need?
5.) Travel info. Please record the following info regarding travelling to your destination.
a.) Round trip distance
b.) Round trip travel time (be realistic, group travel often takes longer than you would expect)
c.) Mode of transportation
d.) Do you need a shuttle to or from trailheads?
