Mailing List

Q. How do I get on the Wildstaff mailing list?

A. If you have applied and been accepted, but still are not on the Wildstaff mailing list, you can add yourself to the list by going to the list interface:

Wildstaff Listserve

We recommend that you do not choose to recieve mail batched in a daily digest.

Climbing Wall

Q. How do I get on the Climbing Wall key list?

A. The climbing wall key list is compiled based on two criteria: 1. Are you currently working one of the climbing wall courses, or supervising the climbing wall? 2. Have you had the necessary trainings to have access to the climbing wall?

The key list is compiled of individuals who have trainging allowing them to supervise in the wall and who are either currently staffing the wall in some form, or can justify their NECESSITY to be able to access the wall outside of normal hours. The key list is replaced at the beginning of every semester and will only include individuals who are either working or have expressed their desire (at the beginning of the semester) to be on the wall key list.

Course Planning

Q. I am leading a course and would like ideas for planning. Where can I find information regarding past courses like mine?

A. The wilderness department has many reference materials designed to aid in course planning. One underutilized source of information is the collection of past course folders. All of the folders from courses over the past few years can be found in Tom Ferrell's office. Also, located in Tom's office are many other files that pertain to certain course areas and regions of the United States. The Outdoor Education Center contains many excellent books that provide excellent information that can be used to flush out your course planning.

Financial Issues

Q. How do I get paid?

A.If you are in an hourly position, you will need to fill out the work study time slips, which can either be picked up in the business office (basement of Carpenter), or from Tom's office. The time slips must be turned into Tom's office before 4 P.M. on the last Friday of the two week pay period.

Individuals working contracted courses will be paid after all paperwork has been filed and the course has been debriefed. Tom will provide you with more information regarding pay at the debrief.
